INCHGOWER - SINGLE MALT - OB - 14YO "FLORA & FAUNA"

The Flora & Fauna series is a famous collection of official bottlings (OB) created by United Distillers (now Diageo) in the early 1990s. The goal was to showcase single malts from distilleries that were normally hidden away and entirely used to make blended Scotch (like Johnnie Walker and Bell's). Each distillery was given a specific, beautiful label featuring a local bird or animal—Inchgower’s label features the Oystercatcher, a coastal wading bird.

It opens with an initial hit of dry, salty sea air, followed by candied citrus peels, orange marmalade, and roasted walnuts. There is an underlying rich, malty background reminiscent of shortbread and light candle wax. It leaves a lingering impression of bittersweet dark chocolate, sea salt, and a pleasant, peppery oak spice.
