    In the early history of Islay’s farm distillery, Kilchoman used color-coded labels to help collectors distinguish between their limited annual variations. While ex-bourbon releases traditionally carried blue or red labels, this 2012 edition debuted a stark Black Label specifically to signal its 100% Oloroso Sherry maturation.
    It opens with an oily layer of barbecue smoke, campfire ash, and medicinal peat, wrapped tightly around rich sherry notes of dried figs, black raisins, and dark chocolate. As it breathes, hints of clove, sea salt, and orange peel break through.
