During the late 1970s and 1980s, the Italian market was the global epicenter for fine, collectible single malt Scotch. Italian importing firms demanded un-diluted, high-proof malts long before the rest of the world caught on. This gave rise to the rare Official Bottling (OB) Glen Garioch "Full Strength" expressions imported by P. Soffiantino & C. in Genoa.

Deep, thick layers of old leather, farmyard dunnage musk, soot, and wet tar, completely illuminated by an unexpected burst of tropical fruits (overripe mangoes, passionfruit, and grilled pineapples) and heavy wax. It leaves a dense echo of ash, herbal tea, dried mint, and campfire smoke.
