KILCHOMAN - SINGLE MALT - OB - Released in 2015

Following small-scale experiments for their exclusive club releases, this October 2015 launch marked the first time Kilchoman committed a large batch of spirit to a 100% full maturation in ex-Madeira wine wood, rather than using it just for a quick, cosmetic few-month "finish."

It opens with an immediate hit of crisp citrus oil, lemon tarts, and ripe apples, right before being overtaken by a thick layer of earthy farmhouse smoke and burning peat. As it opens up in the glass, the Madeira steps forward with deep aromas of raisins, dark prunes, brown sugar, and a hint of fine leather.
