Official distillery expressions of Scapa practically did not exist because nearly every drop of its production was funneled directly into the core engine of the Ballantine's blended Scotch empire. Consequently, Gordon & MacPhail acted as the defect flagbearer for Scapa single malts.

It opens with an unmistakable old-school hit of wet cardboard, industrial paraffin wax, and sea brine. As it sits in the glass, it begins to bloom with underlying notes of sweet wild heather honey, lemon peels, and chalky mineral dust.
