STRATHISLA - SINGLE MALT - IB - HIGH SPIRITS COLLECTION "LOCHS AND CASTLES NO.15" CASK #5249 MAGNUM
The Strathisla Single Malt Independent Bottling (IB) by High Spirits under the "Lochs and Castles of Scotland" Series (Edition No. 15, Cask #5249) Magnum is a magnificent, museum-grade rarity. It represents a holy grail intersection between old-school, mid-century Speyside distillation and the golden era of historic Italian independent curations.
High Spirits was founded by the legendary Ferdinando "Nadi" Fiori (proprietor of the famous Osteria da Nando in Rimini, Italy). Alongside masters like Silvano Samaroli and Pepi Mongiardino, Fiori helped define the global benchmark for single-cask curation. What makes this specific bottle an absolute prize for institutional collectors is its ultra-limited 1.5-Liter Magnum format, which Fiori typically reserved for tight-knit tasting circles, elite distributor allocations, or high-end private club commissions.
It opens with textbook old Strathisla traits—beeswax, furniture polish, and honeyed malted cereals. As it breathes in a wide glass, it shifts into heavy orchard fruit territories, revealing bruised yellow apples, poached pears, and apricot jam.
The luscious orchard fruit notes slowly glide away, leaving a perfectly dry, elegant footprint of toasted cedar wood, herbal tea, and lingering citrus oils.
