In 1968, George S. Grant (4th generation of the family) walked into a Glenfarclas warehouse, pulled a sample straight from a single cask at natural strength, and bottled it as Christmas gifts for close friends. The label was completely blank except for the handwritten proof: 105° British Proof (which equates exactly to 60% ABV). It was the first time a distillery had ever commercially offered a "naked", un-reduced cask-strength single malt to the public.

It opens with an initial burst of juicy cola cubes, dark chocolate truffles, and rich Christmas cake. As it opens, deep aromas of old cigar boxes, aged leather, dried figs, and a sophisticated top note of fresh orange peel and warm cinnamon drift from the glass.
