Dalmore was acquired by Whyte & Mackay in 1960, bottles featuring spirit distilled prior to this date but released under the Whyte & Mackay era (often in the 1970s, 1980s, or as part of ultra-rare vintage releases) represent the absolute pinnacle of the distillery's historical output.

It opens with wood, furniture polish, damp dunnage warehouse, prunes, dark espresso beans, old leather, and a faint hint of distant peat smoke. It finishes with wood spices, cocoa nibs, and walnut oil.
