Macduff distillery was built in 1960 during the post-war global Scotch boom. Its owners historically funneled almost 100% of its production directly into the backbone of Dewar’s Blended Scotch. When the distillery did release official single malts, they strictly marketed them under the brand name "The Deveron" or "Glen Deveron." Because of this corporate naming policy, independent bottlers like Gordon & MacPhail were the only ones who put the actual distillery name—Macduff—front and center on their labels.

It opens with an unmistakable note of natural rubber, polished leather, and old cigar boxes. As it breathes, it sweetens up dramatically, yielding heavy notes of thyme honey, roasted chestnuts, damp earth, and dark chocolate-coated prunes.
