Because Mortlach—nicknamed "The Beast of Dufftown"—was historically locked away for premium blends like Johnnie Walker, these early standalone single malts are prized blue-chip collector artifacts.

It opens with beeswax, antique furniture polish, old book leather, and rich rancio, followed by dried orange rinds, dates, and a distinct background scent of a damp, earthy dunnage warehouse floor.

It leaves behind a persistent note of ginger snaps, old tobacco, and a waxy citrus rind coating.
