BALVENIE - SINGLE MALT - OB - "RARE HIGHLAND MALT, ESPECIALLY FOR LADIES"

It is a famous relic from an era when whisky marketing looked very different. Bottled by the independent outfit Archibald (often spelled Archibalde or Archibald on various old Italian labels) and imported into Italy by the historic Gay Lussac, this bottle is instantly recognizable by its distinct green glass and white screen-printed font.

Though labeled "For Ladies" as a marketing gimmick to suggest a lighter, smoother profile, it is actually a beautifully raw, old-school, entry-level Speyside malt bottled at 86 US Proof (43% ABV).

Extremely clean. It fades rapidly leaving a soft footprint of powdered sugar, lemon peel, and a lingering touch of flinty minerality.
