Ardbeg Alligator (Committee Special Release) remains a legendary cult favorite among Islay enthusiasts. It gets its name from the "Level 4 Char" applied to the virgin American white oak casks it was matured in. This intense burning process causes the wood inside the barrel to split and blister, mimicking the texture of alligator skin.

The peat smoke tapers off into cold, gentle wood ash and dry oak tannins. A lingering confectionery sweetness emerges at the very end, reminiscent of lemon meringue pie, bitter mocha espresso, and distant cigar smoke.
