In the vintage Scotch world, 1960s Laphroaig independent bottlings are considered mythical. Laphroaig rarely allowed third-party bottlers to acquire their casks, making this brown-label release a crown jewel for elite collectors.

It opens with pharmaceutical iodine, camphor, and old leather, which quickly yields to an incredible, unexpected wave of exotic tropical fruits (passionfruit, mango, and pink grapefruit). Behind the fruit sits a gentle maritime saltiness, damp wool, and cold campfire ash. It leaves a lingering, sophisticated echo of sweet peat, brine, and old oak.
