Sestante, founded in the late 1970s by Ernesto Mainardi in Parma, Italy. Mainardi was famous for partnering with aristocratic Italian estates, private clubs, and luxury importers to create ultra-exclusive bespoke labels.
It opens with intense notes of medical band-aids, diesel fuel, ozone, and sea spray, which slowly give way to lemon grass, smoked kippers, white pepper, and a very clean, crisp dunnage warehouse peat smoke.
It leaves behind a persistent coating of coal tar, campfire smoke, and a chalky, mineral-driven finish.
