The Strathisla 15 Year Old "Finest Highland Malt" Licensed Bottling by Gordon & MacPhail (G&M) is a legendary, historic release. In the world of scotch whisky, this bottle is a foundational pillar of single malt history, representing a time when Gordon & MacPhail was practically the only savior and champion of Strathisla as a standalone single malt.
It opens with an explosion of old Oloroso sherry, rum-soaked raisins, dried figs, and dark muscovado sugar. As it breathes, it reveals stunning "old-school" markers: beeswax, antique furniture polish, leather-bound books, and a faint, farmy dunnage-warehouse musk.
The drying tannins of the European oak are perfectly balanced by a lingering sweetness of dark honey, cocoa powder, and a faint, smoky trail of charcoal ash.
