When the legendary owners of Springbank decided to resurrect the closed, historic Glengyle Distillery in Campbeltown, they officially fired up the pot stills and began distilling new-make spirit in 2004. Because of a legal quirk involving the trademark rights to the name "Glengyle", they had to release their new single malt under the name Kilkerran.

2007 marked the very first time in history that anyone could legally drink Kilkerran single malt. This "Tasting Room" release from May 2007 is part of the absolute first wave of legal 3-year-old whisky ever pulled from their foundational 2004 casks.

It opens with an immediate wave of mineral sea spray, white clay, and raw, engine-room oil. As it breathes, the youth shows gracefully with bright notes of sourdough starter, green cooking apples, lemon sherbet, and fresh vanilla pods.
